Good morning run.  Perfect weather.  The clouds over Antelope Island were awesome!

Took off after work and went out to West Kaysville via Ponds Park and Burton Lane.  Came across fewer than two dozen cars.  This may be the last time this summer you can take off at 5:30 p.m. and not worry about the temperature!

It's getting warmer.  You can really notice the difference in the morning hours.  Good run along the trail.

Long, slow, steady run.  Never felt too rushed.  Enjoyed the time even though I knew there was a mountain of work waiting for me at home.  I even managed to get a bit of a sunburn.  Summer is right around the corner, if not here already.

Definitely did not feel like running after a long day visiting family for Father's Day.  Got up and ran anyway.  Definitely happy I did.  Same route as last Friday.  Came upon a dog out and about that I had not seen before.  Slowed down to size him and his intentions up and realized he only had three legs.  Looked like a nice dog.  Had some tags.  I figure that with only three legs he probably doesn't get out much and probably doesn't move too quickly.  I assume that he has quite a story to tell.

I don't know why, but the morning was eerie.  There were no clouds, no noise, and nothing seemed to be moving.  There are usually some sprinklers on, but they were all off.  It was almost like running in a world where everyone has disappeared, but you weren't abducted by the aliens or you didn't get the memo.  I thought I'd see someone on the Bluff or on the trail, but nothing.  Finally, I came across some construction workers at the new fire station.  After that, things seemed more normal.

Welcome back!

Quick 5 miles this morning.  Had meetings to attend.  I am jonesing for an evening to go out on a long run and not worry about time or work.  With this weekend being the longest days of the year, I would love to be able to leave the house at 7:45 or so and go for about 10 miles.  It would still be light when I got back.  It's fun to race the sun down on the Bluff and at the Jensen Nature Park.  Killer views of Antelope Island and the Great Salt Lake.

Went a little further north on the Bluff this morning.  Felt really good, both personally and temperature wise.  The only thing missing was a new BS Report podcast.  I would have loved to have one on this morning.  It would have made it complete.

Ran in Park City while visiting my parents.  It was difficult to run the hills.  We don't have any hills in Syracuse unless you count the manmade one on the side of the football stadium.  Saw the signs for the Wasatch Back relay.  Thought about all the teams who were on their way into town.

Increible! You are consistant in your running day after day. I need to get your kind of mentality. Sigue el buen trabajo. Otra cosa, Tienes suerte que has tenido un mission en Espana. Siempre he querido viajar por ahi.

I really wanted to put in 9 or 10 miles this morning.  Didn't happen.  My 3 year-old got me up at 2:00 a.m. with a cough and a painful ear ache.  After some medicine and some TLC, he finally fell back asleep at 3:30.  Part of the deal of calming him down and creating assurance, however, was the promise that I would spend some time in his room until he fell asleep.  Not wanting to get sick as well, I sacked out on his floor.  Next thing I knew, it was 30 minutes later than my alarm had been set for.  It was either bag the run or shorten it.

Knowing that Sasha taught me early on that any run is better than no run, I shortened the run.  I could definitely feel the heat (even early in the morning) as well as the effects of running a hilly course in Park City on Saturday.  Slowly, however, as I went along, I felt better and better.  Felt like I finished strong and, time permitting, would love to squeeze in another couple of miles this evening.

Had an early tee time with a banker from Denver.  Had to move my run to the evening.  I was sunburned and a bit dehydrated from the day of golf, but felt good on my run.  If I had my druthers, I would have begun the run about a half hour later than I did to avoid a little more of the heat, but it wasn't horrible.

Was only looking to do 9 or 9.5 this morning, but I outsmarted myself.  I thought I could cut across a field that would lead to the golf course trail.  It seemed perfectly doable when I've driven there before.  What I couldn't see from a distance was the big No Trespassing sign and fence on the front side.  They only have the front of the field fenced off.  A little weird.  Anyway, I respected their wishes and took the long way around.

Ran 7.5 miles after a long night.  The idiots from the nursery dropped 15 cubic yards of bark right smack dab in the middle of the street.  First of all, we only ordered and paid for 10 cubic yards and second, the pile took up the entire right half of the road.  It was ridiculous.  How in the world under any circumstance is this acceptable?  Yeah, I know you're 19. Yeah, I know that they only pay you $8.00 an hour, but take a little pride in your work!

Anyway, I got home at 8:00 and began shoveling the bark to a more appropriate location.  I had been at it for about an hour when a couple of neighbors came over and started helping as well.  It was like a Church commercial or video come to life (except without the music and the "Family--Isn't It About Time? ending).  We were done at about 10:20.  Our faces were caked with sweat and dark brown bark dust, but it was moved.

I think the additional labor took a little out of me this morning especially at the beginning and a little bit at the end.  And thank goodness for the Community Center!  Wow, did its convenience and location bail me out when my lower intestines kung fu chopped me at mile 6!  I guess I won't complain so much when I get my property tax bill this November.

Met the day head on with a 7.5 mile loop around the Bluff.  Ran right into the parade as it was lining up.  Ran down 2000 West with a crowd of people cheering me on.  (OK, not really, they were waiting for the parade to start).

Dropped the kids of at Grandma and Grandpa's and went to Salt Lake with my beautiful bride.  It was our 7th wedding anniversary to the day.  Celebrated with a real treat - dinner at Ruth's Chris.  I'll be running an extra 50 miles for that meal.  Walked around the Gateway, saw a movie and just had a fantastic time being alone!  No offense kids.  We still love you.

A.M. - 7 miles.  Same loop.  Felt really, really good.  Have a lot of travel and meetings the next couple of days.

P.M. - 4 miles.  Actually, 6.2 because I walk 2.2 miles when I mow the lawn.  Spent a few hours tidying up the lawn for the birthday party Wednesday evening and then got away for another 4 miles.  I know I won't have time in Idaho to get out.  Wall-to-wall meetings and travel.

A.M. - 6.1 miles. Good to be home. Got home just in time for the birthday party last night. Very warm this morning. I plan to get out tonight as well as I will be a bachelor.

P.M. - 7.3 miles. Great evening run. Warm, but not at all uncomfortable.  Felt great for my second go-around in the past 14 hours.

Great run.  Got my sister to commit to TOU.  She ran the Ogden Marathon.  It will help motivate me and make sure I put in my long runs.

Ran a 10-K length race.  Don't know why.  I meant to run about 7, but just kind of decided after mile 1 to turn it into a 10-K.  Picked up the pace a little bit from miles 3 to 5.

Quick loop up and around the High School before the close of the day.

Nice and cool.  Felt great over the last 5 miles.  Kind of stiff the first 3.
