| | New Year, but I haven't gone anywhere. Haven't posted for a while (OK, almost two months). I've continued running and training. It's been a mix of outdoor running as much as possible, but I have mixed in some treadmill time. In addition, I've spent three days a week playing significant amounts of basketball. I don't know if all the stop and go and cutting has strengthened my core, but it sure feels like it. I had a great holiday season. With some time off and the good weather, I was able to put in over 30 miles the week of Christmas. In addition, I have a buddy who has been training with me on Saturdays. He's nowhere ready for any lengthy runs, but we have a good time and its fun to see him get excited about it. Some slower running is also a welcome cooldown after playing two hours of basketball. |
| | It's great to see it warm up a bit. Or, I should say, until it goes back to the single digits this upcoming weekend. |
| | Basketball followed by a quick trip to the gym. Two miles on the treadmill and 30 minutes on the elliptical. |
| |
Ran after work. It was still so warm out that I just couldn't resist. I'm sure there's some nasty weather coming up behind us. Felt great. Ran a bit slower to avoid any visibility problems. Stayed on sidewalks when possible and through public areas.
|
| | No running, but did play basketball. We went after it pretty hard. I know I'll have some bruises tomorrow. |
| | Cold, but clear. Got started and felt so good that I just kept going. Didn't want to stop, but I had to get back in order to meet the demands of the day. |
| | Way too cold for comfort! Once you get going, however, the only way to stay warm is to keep moving. | |
| | Basketball in the morning |
| |
5 miles...followed by an emergency ward basketball game. |
| | Basketball in the morning...very sore afterwards. In the span of 12 hours, I ran 5 miles and have played a total of about 3 hours of basketball. Yikes! |
| | 10 miles in the softly falling snow. Had a great time and felt really good. Wouldn't trade it for anything. |
| | Played basketball at 6 in the morning, followed by a quick 5-K around the neighborhood. |
| | An eerie run along the trail in the early evening. Things were very quiet. It's also amazing the animals that come out once the sun disappears. There is a large owl down by the nature park that is really cool! |
| | Played basketball at 6, then went for a run, then went back at night to play more basketball. Took a knee to the thigh towards the end of the night game. It's bruised pretty good. I'm sure I'll have a bit of a limp, but I'll keep rotating ice and heat and hopefully will feel good enough to get some mileage in this weekend. |
